Philippines — The Philippine housing sector is entering a period of continued transformation as changing homebuyer preferences, evolving market conditions, and policy developments reshape the industry.
Against this backdrop, the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) will bring together developers, policymakers, financial institutions, and other industry stakeholders at its 34th National Developers Convention on September 16–17, 2026, at Marquis Events Place, BGC, Taguig City, Metro Manila.
Carrying the theme “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations,” the two-day convention will provide a platform for industry leaders to exchange insights, discuss regulatory developments, and explore strategies that can help address the changing needs of the housing market.
“The housing sector has never operated in a vacuum. Regulations shift, market conditions change, and developers have to keep up. That’s exactly what the convention is for. We come together, we share what we know, and we figure out the next steps as an industry,” said Engr. Francis Richmond Villegas, SHDA Chairman of the Board.
One of the key shifts in the housing market is the expansion of demand beyond Metro Manila. Infrastructure improvements are opening emerging growth areas across the country, while first-time buyers and young families continue to contribute to demand for economic and affordable housing, particularly in suburban townships.
At the same time, developers are navigating a more selective market alongside an evolving regulatory environment. Recent policy adjustments, including updated socialized housing price ceilings, underscore the need for industry players to remain informed and responsive to policy changes.
“Change in the housing industry is constant, but our mission has never wavered,” said Mr. Kerwin Padua, SHDA National President. “At the end of the day, everything we do is for Filipino families who want a home they can call their own. The landscape keeps shifting, but the goal of homeownership will stay.”
Padua added that the convention will help members, affiliates, and partners better understand market behavior and demand, enabling developers to provide affordable homes that respond to the needs of Filipino families.
The 2026 convention will feature discussions on regulatory updates, household composition, homebuyer trends, and strategic housing innovations, giving participants opportunities to gain insights relevant to the industry’s next phase.
