MANILA, Philippines – With approximately 9.9 million Filipinos working in gig or informal employment, traditional lending requirements continue to pose a challenge for workers whose earnings do not come with regular payslips. A digital lending platform, PeraSure, aims to address this gap by offering a more accessible way to borrow for eligible Filipinos with varied income sources.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, around 9.9 million Filipinos, equivalent to roughly 22% of the country’s 44 million employed workers, participate in gig or informal work. Freelancers, platform workers, and micro-entrepreneurs often operate outside conventional employment arrangements, making it difficult to meet credit assessments that rely on standard payroll documents.
PeraSure, a digital lending app operated by SEC-registered Sulit Lending Corporation, officially launched in the Philippines to provide a lending option that better reflects the changing nature of work and income.
“Many hardworking Filipinos earn a living outside a regular payroll, yet lending has long been built around payslips,” PeraSure noted. “We want borrowers to see exactly what they will pay, within the SEC’s limits, before they confirm a loan.”
Eligible applicants can apply using a government-issued ID and basic employment or income information, reducing the need for traditional consumer lending paperwork. Before confirming a loan, borrowers can review a complete breakdown of rates, applicable fees, and the total repayment amount, helping them understand their borrowing costs upfront.
The platform’s launch comes as updated lending regulations take effect. Under Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Memorandum Circular No. 14, Series of 2025, effective April 1, 2026, the combined interest and fees on qualifying small loans are capped at 12% per month, down from the previous 15% monthly ceiling.
PeraSure charges a daily interest rate as low as 0.10%, operating below the regulatory ceiling. The platform offers eligible borrowers loans of up to ₱50,000, with repayment periods ranging from 30 to 180 days, depending on individual credit evaluations.
Beyond individual transactions, PeraSure follows a revolving credit model. Eligible users can draw from an approved credit line over time instead of having to reapply and requalify for every transaction. Their credit limits may grow as they establish a repayment record.
By addressing the cash-flow needs of salaried employees, gig workers, and micro-entrepreneurs, PeraSure aims to make credit more accessible to Filipinos whose income arrangements may not fit traditional lending criteria.
The PeraSure app is now available for download on Google Play.
